The First Mistake: A Sad Day and a Happy Promise
Adam and Eve lived in a beautiful garden called Eden. It was perfect! They had yummy fruit to eat, animals to play with, and best of all, they walked and talked with God every day.
God gave them one rule: "You can eat fruit from any tree in the garden, except for one, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." It was a simple rule to keep them safe.
The Sneaky Snake
One day, a sneaky snake came to Eve. He told her a lie. He said, "Did God really say you can't eat from ANY tree?" Eve said, "No, just that one." But the snake said, "You won't die! God just doesn't want you to be as smart as Him."
Eve looked at the fruit. It looked tasty. She forgot God's good rule and ate it. Then she gave some to Adam, and he ate it too.
The Big Break
Suddenly, everything changed. They felt scared and ashamed. They tried to hide from God. This was the first sin. Sin is when we choose our way instead of God's way. Because of their choice, they had to leave the beautiful garden. It was the saddest day in history.
The Happy Promise
But wait! The story doesn't end there. Even though God was sad that they disobeyed, He still loved them. He made a promise right then and there. He promised that one day, a Rescuer would come from Eve's family. This Rescuer would crush the snake's head and defeat sin forever.
That Rescuer is Jesus! Even on the very first day that people messed up, God already had a plan to save us.
🌟 The Big Question
Have you ever broken a rule and felt scared to tell your parents? How did it feel when they forgave you? That is a little bit like how God forgives us.
🎨 Activity: The Band-Aid Heart
What you need: A paper heart (cut from red paper) and a Band-Aid.
- Take your paper heart and tear it a little bit at the top. This represents how sin breaks our relationship with God.
- Now, take the Band-Aid and put it over the tear to hold the heart together.
- Write "Jesus Heals" on the Band-Aid.
Talk about it: Explain that sin breaks things, but Jesus came to heal our hearts and bring us back to God.
